Assistive, not generative.
There’s a real difference between AI that helps you do something you’re already doing and AI that creates something in your place entirely. ArgoStory firmly believes that you can't be replaced.
Assistive AI (the kind we use) works quietly in the background to help streamline your ArgoStory experience: summarizing a long thread so you can catch up quickly, looking up a product from a photo, translating a caption, or building a simple itinerary out of posts you’ve already saved. It doesn’t create feed content based on other uploads, it simply gives you another perspective on content you already love. None of these features are automatically turned on in your account. You have the ability to customize ArgoStory to fit your story.
Generative AI content ( AI-created photos, videos, audio, or images intended to pass as human-made ) isn’t allowed on ArgoStory, ever. Simply bececause it goes against the one thing this app exists to protect: the ability to trust your own eyes and ears.
How We Enforce It
Every upload is run through an AI-detection filter as it processes onto ArgoStory. Content flagged by that filter or reported by an overwhelming number of other users, is removed. If you believe a removal was a mistake, you have 7 days to appeal by sharing behind-the-scenes process photos and a short written description of how the content was made. We review every appeal by hand.

What’s the difference between the AI you use and the AI you don’t allow?
We draw a hard line between assistive AI and generative AI. Assistive AI helps you do things faster — summarizing posts, looking up a product in a photo, translating a caption, building an itinerary from your saved posts, or surfacing local small businesses instead of big sponsored ones. All of these are optional and can be switched off. Generative AI content that’s prompted rather than captured, like an AI generated photo or video, will never be allowed on ArgoStory at all regardless of person, use, and intent.
How do you actually stop other users from posting AI-generated content?
Every piece of content is run through an AI-detection filter the moment it’s uploaded. If it’s flagged by our detection system or because a large number of users report it, it will be removed from user feeds. The uploader has 7 days to appeal by showing their creation process: behind-the-scenes photos and a human written explanation of how they made it. We review filtered appeals by hand and not through an algorithm, because we understand detection technology isn’t perfect.
What AI features can I actually opt into?
Right now, planned assistive features include: AI-generated summaries of long posts or threads, a product look-up lens (zoom into a photo to find related products), itinerary building from posts you’ve saved, surfacing local and small business alternatives instead of big brand sponsored placements, and language translation. Every one of these is off by default and is entirely up to you to choose if you would like to use them. They will not include content by users who have opted out of these features.
Does this mean ArgoStory is “anti-AI”?
No. We’re anti-deception, not anti-AI. We use this analogy at ArgoStory to explain the difference between Assistive and Generative AI: the difference between a hand whisk and a mechanical whisk is that while both mix ingredients, at their core, they serve the same role — to stir ingredients together. The mechanical whisk is Assistive AI. It helps you streamline mundane tasks without replacing the root of the flavor, which comes from you. Generative AI stitches recipes together in a “best guess” attempt at mimicking human flavor by treating recipes as data sets rather than a part of heritage or culture. Gen AI is an imitation of human imagination trying to pass as authentic.
